Community Engagement

As a member of tier 3, I continued to work with Wilmington Green Box (see Project Management tab). Through interviews with our liaison, a WGB board member, and a WGB teen supervisor, we created a SWOT analysis to propose a project that would fulfill a need or capitalize on an opportunity. Our first project proposal revolved around creating an assessment to determine if the healthy goods were reaching food insecure areas and how to more effectively reach them. After deliberation, there were other more pressing matters which needed to be addressed. Following winter break, we had two team members drop from the program due to other commitments, which impacted our project proposals moving forward. Given our change in group composition and our time constraints, my partner and I decided focusing on the human resources aspect of WGB was something that was needed and feasible. At the conclusion of the school year, we created a hiring process which included an application and interview structure, and a training manual to make onboarding more efficient.
