
Goals
Immediate
By the end of November 2020, I would like to be a certified Associate Professional in Human Resources by completing and passing my aPHR exam. This will allow me to market myself better to potential employers and demonstrate my HR knowledge. By completing this, I will gain relevant skills to help me obtain a full-time position in the workforce.
Short-term
In the next 1-5 years, I hope to be on my career path in HR or management consulting and to be financially secure. Two common problems that recent graduates have are that they don't like their job or career path they started on and they don't save enough money. To complete this goal, I will spend time learning and exploring different areas of HR and management consulting, and I will save at least 20% of each paycheck. Some challenges that may arise include unnecessary spending and complacency with my work. My network and good spending habits will help me achieve both of these goals.
Long-term
Before I turn 30 or before it's destroyed, I would love to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. I have a bucket list of many places I'd like to travel and this is one of them. Traveling to many different places can allow me to experience many different cultures and ways of life which excites me. Through saving money and vacation days, I will have enough money and time to travel.
Giving Back
Through tier 4 I hope to stay involved through freestyle Fridays, crucial conversations, and BHLP workshops every now and then. Much like fall semester, I hope to do a lot of schoolwork in the BHLP office and offer guidance to any BHLPer or person who requests it. Following graduation I hope to serve as a mentor and a resource for the future leaders who participate in BHLP. I hope to be remembered in BHLP as hard-working, dedicated, optimistic, and caring. I aim to achieve this by being a friendly face and engaging as many people as I can. As Maya Angelou once said "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".
