Sideshow
During my sophomore year of college, I decided to officially join the Men's Club Ultimate Frisbee B-team aka Sideshow. I had never played organized ultimate frisbee before, but I learned how to throw a disc at a young age. There was a big learning curve, but over the course of the season I learned as much as I could. But that was only part of the struggle. From freshman spring to junior fall, I sprained my ankle 4 times (roughly once per semester). Instead of hanging up the towel, I decided to stick with it and by senior year I was voted as 1 of 3 B-team captains and Vice President of A and B-team. Below I will describe some of my responsibilities these roles.
Captain
- Organize how practices will be run (3 2-hour practices per week on average)
- Run frisbee drills to work on different skills
- Teach plays, rules, zones, and strategies
- Choose which tournaments to play in
VP
- Reserve fields to play on
- Organize home tournament
- Apply to have tournament sanctioned
- Serve as a member of e-board and answer questions related to sideshow
