LEAD 365

LEAD 365 is a national leadership conference that I had the privilege to attend in the Fall of 2017. Over this 3 day conference, I participated in workshops, breakout sessions, and activities designed to further my leadership knowledge and sharpen soft skills.  Below I've written about a few of them and bulleted my takeaways.

  • RAP - Recognize, Acknowledge, Praise

  • People forget 50% of what they just heard

  • If you don't teach them how-to, they will revert back to what they know

  • 93% of communication is non-verbal - 55% visual, 38% how you say your information

  • Believe in what you say, else no one else will

    • Pursue what you want and fall short

    • Don't go after what you want and later wonder "what if?

  • Experience is the best teacher

  • Life's a team sport, so don't be afraid to ask for help

  • Create SMART goals

  • The #1 reason people fail to achieve their goals is because they lose sight of their purpose

Empowerment by James Robilotta

  • Challenge

    • Give followers opportunity to fail

    • Don't address complaints, have the tough conversations
